HAMBURGER


HAMBURGER
 Recipe for ham burger buns (8 buns)
Flour                         -           350g
Butter                       -           1 tablespoon
Yeast                         -           tablespoon
Milk                           -           125ml
Egg                             -           1
Vegetable oil           -           2 tablespoon
Sugar                         -           2 tablespoon
Salt                             -           1 teaspoon

Method
1.     Stir the yeast into the warm water.
2.     In a separate bowl, whisk the milk, egg, oil, sugar and salt together. Add this to the yeast mixture and stir until combined.
3.     Add all the flour and stir and knead for 10 -15mins.
4.     Coat the dough and allow it to double its size.
5.     Punch down and divide the dough into 8 pieces.
6.     Shape each into a tight ball.
7.     Transfer the balls into a baking sheet and let rise about 30-40mins.
8.     Melt the butter and brush it over the risen ham burger buns. This helps the top to brown and keep the crust soft.
9.     Bake the buns until golden.
10.              Let the buns cool to room temperature before slicing and using.

For the burger
85% lean ground beef
8 burger buns
1 egg yolk


For the seasoning
 Small red or white onion
Ketchup
Maggi
1tablespoon mustard
Bread crumbs
1 tablespoon white pepper
1 garlic clove
Hand full fresh herbs (chopped roughly)
Salt and pepper to taste

Procedure
1.        Grind the meat and place the ground beef in a bowl and add the other ingredients. Roughly chop the onion and garlic and mix them together until combined.
Add any of the ingredients you want to the burger like ketchup, bread crumbs, mustard, chopped herbs (these are optional).
2.        Season the egg yolk with salt and pepper and add to the burger. Mix everything together thoroughly.
3.        Shape the mixture into equal – sized balls using your hands and press the balls down to make flat burger shapes about  inch thick.
4.        Arrange the burger on a plate. Cover with plastic wraps and chill for 30-50mins to make the burgers firmer and easier to cook. Burger meat is best cooked cold.
5.        While the burgers are cooking, prepare the toppings.
Recipe for toppings
2 thinly sliced tomato
 Bulb onion (thinly sliced)
8 slices of cheese
Lettuce leaves
Kerchup
Mayonnaise/ Butter.

Procedure
1.           Wash the lettuce, onion and tomatoes and slice
2.           Halve the burger buns
3.           Place the ketchup and mayonnaise in a plate or mix the two.
If using butter, rub the butter on the bread

To serve
1.  Once the burgers are cooked
2.  Place the lettuce on the bread
3.  Put the slices of tomatoes and onion on it.
4.  Put the burger meat.
5.  Put the ketchup
6.  Lastly the cheese
7.  cover with the other bread.
